In a festival that started in 2006, the City of Strasbourg, in association with local bookshops, welcomes writers and authors along with their musician, actor and other artistic friends.
The week-long event begins in mid-September and sees 100 or so guest authors talking about their books and their favourite reads. There is a vast number of themes, some humorous, some serious and some somewhere between the two. Everything takes place in the l'Aubette, place Kléber, in one of the city's libraries or in a local bookshop.
It's a great opportunity to hear readings by actors and also by the authors themselves (there are plenty of signing sessions) and also to chat with the authors.
There's quite a bit of music in the Festival and it's a great way of spending an hour or so or even the whole evening.
